Good Writing Movies
As a writer, I have a particular fondness for movies about writers and the mysterious creative process of writing. Of course, as a movie lover and aspiring movie buff, I can’t allow myself to like a movie just for that reason. Silly, cliched attempts to capture the writer’s headspace, like, say, Finding Forrester, simply won’t do. The pantheon of great writers’ movies contains only two films as of yet – Capote and Wonder Boys. The former is a haunting, searing depiction of one of the century’s greatest writers, and the torturous process of writing a book that invades one’s personal life; the latter is a darkly hilarious portrait of the struggle to write a novel, compete with young writing hotshots, and still have a life. I highly recommend both of them.

Have you seen Henry Fool or The World According to Garp? These are some classic movies about writers/writing that I believe fit the bill. Also, there is an intersting episode of X Files that addresses the process of writing. Also, I found Stranger Than Fiction intriguing though not quite above the cliche.
