I must read this book. It sounds fascinating. How odd to focus one’s obsession on an inanimate object of beauty rather than, say, a beautiful human being.

The ‘standard’ version of this storyline would have the monk throw acid in the face of a ‘perfect’ young woman. But to burn down an actual ‘temple of beauty’–that is really taking this theme to the mat!
